When you buy a Crested Gecko from Tacky Toes, you know you are getting an animal that is healthy, well cared for and well loved. We expect that any home our geckos end up in to be the same. Connecting people to these interesting little creatures is our passion. Please read through our Terms of Service before purchasing.

We are not in the market of providing unwanted pets to unsuspecting parents, so we do not sell to anyone under the age of 18.

We reserve the right to refuse any sale.

Payment Methods

We accept Paypal, Paypal Pay Later, and Venmo payment methods.

All payments must clear before shipping will be scheduled.

Payment Plans

We do allow for a 30 day HOLD to be put on our geckos priced over $400. Please use our contact form to arrange a payment plan.

Coupons or promotional discounts are not valid for geckos purchased utilizing a payment plan.

We require a 25% non-refundable deposit. If a full payment order is placed before we have received your deposit, that order will take priority.

After making your deposit, you will have 30 days to pay the balance due. We do not send out invoices or bills, it is your responsibility to send payment before the end of 30 days.

If full payment has not been made by the end of the 30 days, we reserve the right to put that gecko back up for sale and you will forfeit your 25% deposit. Payments made over the forfeited 25% deposit will be converted to in-store credit. If you feel you have a special circumstance that prevents you from completing payment on time, please contact us, we may be willing to accommodate your needs.

Shipping

After full payment is received, we will contact you using the email address provided with your payment to arrange shipping.

You will be asked to confirm your shipping address. We are not responsible for delays if you provide incorrect shipping information. Shipping delays could void our “Alive Arrival” guarantee.

We charge a flat fee of $80 to ship your gecko to you. Multiple geckos can be combined in one shipment if purchased together. If there is a later purchase you wish to combine with an earlier one, please contact us. We will provide you with a “Free Shipping” coupon code for your subsequent order.

All orders over $1000 ship free

We only ship on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays to prevent weekend-long delays. We will drop off your gecko with FedEx in the evening, after which they are generally flown overnight to their FedEx staffed hub destination.  Most orders are ready for pick-up the next morning after 10:30am. It is FedEx policy that you present a government issued ID (such as a driver’s license) to pick up your order – don’t forget to bring one!

For the health and safety of our animals we do not ship in weather below 40F for the nighttime low or above 85F for the daytime high. Hot or cold packs will be provided if needed at no cost to you. If weather is not ideal for shipping, we will place your gecko on HOLD and ship as soon as possible. Your gecko will receive excellent care while we wait for the next available shipping window. No refunds will be given if you are unable to wait until the next safe shipping window.

We will help you locate the nearest FedEx staffed hub to receive your order.

We ship via Fedex Priority overnight, ONLY TO FEDEX STAFFED HUBS AT THIS TIME. Most hubs provide a climate-controlled room to hold your gecko shipment until you arrive, however some do not. We ask that you pick up your gecko within 1 hour of arrival or our Health Guarantee and “Alive Arrival” Guarantee will be rendered invalid.

DO NOT CONTACT FEDEX IF YOUR SHIPMENT IS DELAYED. Our shipping service, Reptiles2You, has extended resources with FedEx and is better equipped to navigate any issues or delays. You contacting FedEx can cause additional delays. If this occurs, all guarantees are null and void. This is Reptiles2You’s specialty and from experience know to let them do their magic.

Currently, we are only shipping to the 48 contiguous United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii).

Local pickup is possible if you are in the Rapid City, SD area. We are a popular tourist location located 15 minutes from Mt. Rushmore, in case you wish to make the trek here!

Health Guarantee

Tacky Toes offers a 10-day health guarantee. This does not include accidental injury post safe arrival.

For our Health Guarantee to be valid you must:

  • Provide us with photo or video evidence as soon as illness is suspected
  • Provide vet records confirming illness and that care was sought within the first 10 days after arrival.
  • Return the ill/deceased gecko to us for inspection, at our expense. An ill gecko must be returned using the same packing materials and in the same manner it was shipped to you.

If we agree that the sickness/death occurred through no fault of yours, store credit will be issued to purchase another gecko. No cash refunds will be provided.

“Alive Arrival” Guarantee

In the extremely rare event that your gecko arrives deceased, we offer a cash refund, providing our TOS have not been violated. 

To receive reimbursement, you must provide proof of DOA delivery

  • Provide proof of DOA delivery. This can be accomplished by sending us a picture/video within 1 hour post delivery. Not all FedEx hubs have climate controlled storage.
  • Temperatures on your end must have been within the safe zone: above 40 for a nighttime low, below 85 for a daytime high. We are responsible for monitoring the temps when delivery begins, however you must ensure the temperatures are safe for the arrival location.  We will do our best to confirm temperatures on your end before shipping, however, ultimately that is your responsibility.
  • Accurate shipping address must have been provided by you.

Gender Guarantee

Geckos listed for sale with a definitive sex are guaranteed. Any listings that are “possible female” or “possible male” are NOT guaranteed. We have had “females” suddenly become male at even 25g, so until we are certain, an animal will always be listed as “possible …”.

If you receive a gecko listed as one sex and find that it is indeed another, we will have you return the animal to us, using the original packing materials, at our expense. Upon safe arrival, your will receive a cash refund.

Tail Loss

Geckos do occasionally lose their tails. Fortunately this does not affect their health or breeding abilities. No refund will be given for tail loss prior to or during transit. Prior to shipping, your gecko will be housed separately and receive our very best care.  As a result, it is highly unlikely they would drop their tail between purchase and shipping, but this can occur.  You will receive notification from us if your gecko drops its tail prior to shipping.

Color Variations

Color for a gecko can vary widely between the state of “fired up” and “fired down”. We do our best to capture both states when photographing the gecko, however some just refuse to cooperate. Our photos are calibrated to present the truest color representation possible. No refunds will be offered in regard to color. If you have concerns prior to purchase, please contact us and we will provide additional photos if requested.

Abandoned Orders

All orders must ship within 45 days, provided there have been safe shipping opportunities.

If 6 months has passed and there have been safe shipping opportunities during that time, your gecko order will be considered “abandoned” and once again become the property of Tacky Toes (no refund will be offered).

Cancellation Policy

All sales are final so please consider your purchase carefully. Ensure you have the time for care and resources available for housing in advance.  When buying from Tacky Toes you are assumed to have read and agreed to all the above Terms of Services.
